A few licks using the Dorian and minor pentatonic scale. The following licks are very usable in most musical situations.

The Lydian mode is one of my favorites. It brings a mysterious kind of feel to a major 7th chord and is often used to "open up" a musical piece.

We'll talk about the Mixolydian mode. This mode is the 5th mode extracted from the Major scale.
